Orbital Fabrications Ltd are specialists in the design, manufacture and installation of high purity gas and fluid handling systems, serving a number of hi-tech industries, including semiconductor, pharmaceutical, renewable energies and nuclear. Based in St. Ives, Cambridgeshire, the facility boasts extensive work shops, cleanrooms and a dedicated machine shop, which compliments and supports the national site teams tasked with installing, testing and commissioning our ultra-high purity process pipework systems.

Hours of Work | 07:00 – 18:00 (Mon – Thurs) 07:00 – 13:00 (Fri) |
Hourly Rate | £26 for every hour worked on site |
Accommodation Allowance | Site location dependent (minimum £95.00 per night) |
Travel Time | £12 per hour after the first hour of travel to a maximum of 3 hours claim |
Mileage
|
0.40p per mile from registered home address to Site address, 1 journey each way per week, if working weekends, the journey home can only be claimed when returning home (calculated by google maps) |
Travel | Mileage and travel time are calculated on a full week’s work and consequently you will be paid on a pro-rata basis. For example, if you only work 4 days in 1 week, you will only be able to claim 80% of these benefits. Unless authorised by the site management team |
If you live within 40 miles of site | Only mileage will be paid (Calculated by google maps) |
Overtime Rate | 1.5 x hourly rate for weekends and Bank Holidays |
Invoicing | Invoices to be submitted by 06:00 Monday following a fortnightly payment period. Invoices should be completed in your own time (no invoice no payment). Payments would be CIS/LTD |
Uniform | Operatives will be entitled to an Orbital Fabrications hard hat, high-visibility vest and sweatshirt/polo shirts. These are to be worn at all times |
Sub-Contractor Site Responsibilities
• Sign up to the RAMS within the SP1 pack which are held by the Orbital Site Supervisor.
• Attend site inductions and training as required by the project.
• Sign in and out every day with the Orbital Site Supervisor using the sign in sheet provided.
• Complete all work tasks that are coordinated and delegated by your Site Supervisor.
• You are expected to be efficient and forward thinking with your work tasks.
• You are expected to conduct all work tasks on site in a safe and professional manner.
• To ensure that any weld logs and weld maps are completed on a daily basis using the appropriate templates supplied within the SP1 pack and to the required standard.
• Orbital equipment should be stored safely and securely in provided site locations when not in use, overnight or at the weekend.
• To ensure that all weld collets, blocks, gauges, and gap setters remain in the provided kits and are looked after correctly.
• To ensure all facing toolboxes including facing tool and all collets are complete and looked after correctly.
Essential Requirements
• Applicants must hold a valid CSCS card, other training certificates or approvals would be advantageous.
• Applicants must have the legal right to work within the UK, proof of this will be required.
• Applicants must hold a valid IPAF training certificate.
• Competent installing small bore instrumentation pipework between ¼” and ½” OD using Swagelok manual tube benders.
Desirable Requirements
• Familiar with Swagelok and Orbitec welding plant, heads etc.
• Capable of on-site welding of pipework in the range of ¼” – 5” OD.
• Familiar with fluid delivery systems (gas and/or liquid) in semiconductor or pharmaceutical environments.
