About
Orbital Fabrications Ltd are specialists in the design, manufacture and installation of high purity gas and fluid handling systems, serving a number of hi-tech industries, including semiconductor, pharmaceutical, renewable energies and nuclear. Based in St. Ives, Cambridgeshire, the facility boasts extensive work shops, cleanrooms and a dedicated machine shop, which compliments and supports the national site teams tasked with installing, testing and commissioning our ultra-high purity process pipework systems.

The Role
Due to continued growth, Orbital Fabrications require a Junior CAD Technician, either with mechanical engineering experience as a time served apprentice, technician, or with pre-existing CAD experience within a separate industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating 3D models from concept drawings and P&ID’s, creating manufacturing drawings and managing associated administrative tasks. The successful candidate will work within a dynamic team of engineers from our head office in St. Ives.

Responsibilities
• Produce 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings and Bills of Materials using SolidWorks and AutoCAD with supplied design information.
• Work closely with team members and communicate effectively with clients to ensure designs are approved and ready for production.
• Specify material and equipment required for project.
• Managing workload efficiently to meet project deadlines.
• Up-issue existing manufacturing drawings where required.
• Implement quality standards throughout produced work and develop where possible.
• Maintain databases and ensure version control.

Junior CAD Technician Requires:
• Experience with SolidWorks producing detailed designs, AutoCAD also advantageous but training can be provided.
• Some knowledge of engineering principles and technical drawing standards.
• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficient in planning and prioritising daily tasks.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with colleagues and clients.
• Proficient with Microsoft products; Word, Excel, Outlook.

Package:
• Working hours; Monday – Thursday; 08:30 – 17:00 & Friday; 08:30 – 16:00
